Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Architect – Data Engineering with a strong background in data architecture, data engineering, and microservices-based platforms. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing and evolving enterprise-scale data platforms that support complex business requirements.
This role requires a balance of strategic architectural thinking, deep technical expertise, and hands-on leadership, working closely with engineering, product, and analytics teams to build scalable and high-performance data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Engineering Leadership
- Architect and guide the implementation of robust data pipelines (batch and streaming) for large-scale datasets.
- Review and influence data engineering designs to ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to align data solutions with microservices and event-driven architectures.
Application & Platform Integration
- Design integrations between Java-based microservices and enterprise data platforms.
- Ensure data services are exposed through well-defined APIs and data contracts.
- Support real-time and near-real-time data processing patterns.
Governance, Security & Quality
- Define and enforce data governance, metadata management, and data lineage practices.
- Ensure data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance standards are met.
- Drive data quality frameworks and observability across data platforms.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and guide senior data engineers and architects.
- Act as a technical advisor to business and technology stakeholders.
- Lead architecture reviews, technical discussions, and decision-making for complex initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
Core Experience
- 12–15 years of IT experience with a strong focus on Data Architecture and Data Engineering.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Java and microservices-based architecture.
Technical Expertise
- Programming: Scala, Java, SQL, Python
- Big Data: Spark, PySpark, Spark SQL
- Streaming: Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming
- Microservices: REST APIs, event-driven architectures
- Data Platforms: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure Synapse (or equivalent)
- Cloud: AWS / Azure / GCP (GCP preferred)
