Job Title: Technical Supervisor – Animation

Company Domain: Animation & Entertainment (Netflix Animation Studios)

Years of Experience: 5+ years of supervisory experience in animated features, animated series, or VFX films

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Role Type: Full-time, Hybrid (minimum 3 days per week in office)

Role Overview: Serve as the primary technical leader on an animated feature film, partnering with creative leadership to define technical vision, evolve pipelines, and deliver high-quality production at scale.

Key Responsibilities: Lead technical strategy aligned with creative goals, guide Technical Supervisors and TDs, drive pipeline improvements, manage cross-department escalations, oversee bidding and scheduling, and collaborate globally across studio teams. Partner with directors and creative leadership, understand creative drivers and standards, and translate artistic vision into clear technical direction.

Own show-level technical strategy, guide teams toward priority problems, resolve complex cross-functional issues, and contribute to scalable studio-wide pipelines.

Scope technical needs, assess risks and gaps, propose solutions, and ensure development resources and timelines are met.

Lead and mentor Associate Technical Supervisors and TDs, foster a collaborative culture, and partner on hiring, training, performance feedback, and development.

Communicate technical plans clearly, promote innovation and knowledge sharing, and build trust through effective decision-making and early conflict resolution.

Strong leadership experience, advanced animation pipeline and rendering workflow knowledge, Python or scripting skills, expertise with DCC tools (Maya, Houdini, Mari, Nuke), production tracking tools, and excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
