• Demonstrated expertise in data mining, analytics, and data engineering concepts.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Engineer + Instructor – Data Mining to join our Computer Science Department. The selected candidate will deliver undergraduate-level courses in Data Mining, Big Data, and Data Analytics, design practical labs, mentor students on real-world projects, and contribute to the academic and research environment. This is a full-time teaching and mentoring role that blends theory with applied learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver lectures for Data Mining, Big Data, and Data Analytics courses.
• Teach the complete data lifecycle: preprocessing, cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering.
• Explain theory, implementation, and evaluation of algorithms (classification, clustering, association rule mining, anomaly detection).
• Design lab sessions, assignments, and projects using modern data science tools.
• Develop and grade assessments (assignments, projects, exams) mapped to Course Learning Objectives.
• Mentor students on projects and encourage the use of real-world datasets (e.g., Kaggle).
• Stay updated with advancements in data engineering, machine learning, and analytics to keep the curriculum cutting-edge.
• Contribute to the department’s research culture and student development.

Skills and Qualifications

Core Requirements

• Ph.D. (or Master’s with strong industry experience) in CS, Data Science, AI, or related fields.
• Strong practical proficiency in Python, Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib/Seaborn.
• Demonstrable expertise in data engineering, mining, and ML algorithms.
• Proven teaching experience, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex topics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

• Academic publications in data mining, ML, or AI conferences/journals.
• Industry experience in roles like Data Scientist, ML Engineer, and Big Data Engineer.
• Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop).
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Mentored students in competitions/hackathons.
